We Are Stronger than Metal

So, the story of Ironman or Superman can be scientifically proven. Our body is very strong and can renew itself if we have enough willpower to do so. Doesn’t that mean that also there isn’t such a thing as “inability to learn a language”? It all depends on how we persuade our brain and what methods we use.

This fun fact site instanerd.me is a great tool to use in the classroom in order to start a lesson with some interesting topics, activate discussion, encourage talking. Here are some ideas I use this tool in my language classes:

  • As a bell ringer: ask your students to read 10 posts and choose one best or most interesting and share with the class
  • As a discussion starter: ask them to read 5 posts and choose one they could start a discussion about in group of four/ five students where each of the group members has to read their fact and each of the group members gives their opinion on it Agree or disagree?
  • To practice talking: ask your students to read 10 posts and choose one they can extend on and prepare a 1 minute long monologue where they give a statement, explain it and give examples on it.
